Kalbi:

  • 1 lb thinly sliced short ribs or large flat steak (skirt, flank, sirloin)

  • ¾ cup Suji’s Korean Savory Sauce

  • 2 T chopped scallion

  • 1 T minced garlic

  • ½ T minced ginger

  • ½ T toasted sesame seed oil

  • ¼ t ground black pepper

Mix the sauce with the scallion, garlic, ginger, oil and black pepper in a large container. Add the short ribs or steak and coat with the sauce on all sides. Marinate for 8 to 12 hours. Remove from marinade and shake off excess sauce. Heat grill to 400°F. Place on the grill and cook until browned, about 2 to 3 minutes. Flip and cook until browned and fully cooked, about 3 minutes. Keep the grill lid open to prevent flare-ups. If the flame is too hot, reduce the heat. Alternatively, you can cook the ribs in a sauté pan over medium high heat. Place a small amount of oil in a nonstick pan. Add a single layer of ribs and cook until well browned on both sides. Serve with steamed rice. Serve immediately. Serves 2-3.
